Are you 21 or under and have a great business idea?
The Goodwin Development Trust is at the forefront of the battle to tackle youth unemployment through our Mojo project where we help young people get the skills necessary to get them into work or training. But our project isn’t the only way to tackle unemployment – you might want to consider starting your own business. If you’re 21 years-old or younger and you’ve got a business idea but no cash to get your idea off the ground then you need to talk to the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank.
If you are a young person aged up to and including 21 years old and you live in Hull and the East Riding then the John Cracknell Youth Enterprise Bank can offer grants of up to £1,000 to individuals or groups of young people who need finance to help make their idea happen. (More funding will be considered in exceptional circumstances). The idea should benefit other people or help the applicant develop an enterprising idea.
The Youth Enterprise Bank (YEB) is not just about giving financial support - they also offer practical help with developing your business idea. The YEB works closely with the team with Hull Training’s Youth Enterprise Team at Kingston House. The Youth Enterprise Bank is managed by a group of trustees, chaired by Maureen Foers OBE and linked to the Hull Youth Enterprise Partnership.
To-date over 155 young people from Hull have benefited from this source of funding, buying items such as: Computers, Business Stationery, Websites, Photography Equipment, Bicycle Repair Equipment, Chocolate Making Equipment, Dance costumes for local bands, equipment for mobile hairdressers and much more.
And don’t think that your idea isn’t big enough to merit consideration– as Walt Disney once said: “Always remember that this whole thing started with a dream and a mouse.” The Disney Corporation now turns over £30billion a year.
In order to get considered by the Management Group (which meets once every two months), applications will need to be with the secretary by the 1stday of each month.
