The ‘Goodwin HandyVan Service'

This is a service offered to all Hull residents and qualifying Royal British Legion beneficiaries within the City of Hull.

A trained and CRB checked ‘HandyVan’ fitter will visit your home following an initial assessment of need and carry out such tasks as Security, Home Safety surveys and the fitting of security hardware and alarms as needed to improve security against crime and wellbeing in the home. 

Also available are services to tackle general odd jobs, small repairs and falls prevention, whilst providing advice and reassurance which allows people to remain living independently in their own home.

HandyVan provide services for domestic plumbing, minor domestic electrical work, some decorating work and garden remodification to aid falls prevention. 

Services are provided at a non-profit making cost to clients.  Please ring to discuss your requirements.

What we do

A HandyVan fitter can install window locks, door locks, door chains, spy holes and other security features to reinforce your home against crime.

We also tackle odd jobs, domestic plumbing, minor domestic electrical work, minor decorating, garden remodification.  Please call the HandyVan team on 01482 228677 to discuss your specific requirements.

Royal British Legion Qualifiers ALL AGES

Qualifiying criteria includes:

• served in any of the armed forces for a minimum of two weeks
• a dependent of someone who was in the Merchantile Marines serving in hostile waters
• completed National Service (with a service number)
• served in the Home Guard (with a service number)
• a dependent of someone who has served in the armed forces
• divorced (and not remarried) from someone who has served in the armed forces

We provide a range of Free services* under our partnership support with the Royal British Legion dependent on qualifying criteria being met (please ring us to check).

We can also look at financial support with our Royal British Legion Support Team (telephone: 01482 217274) for any essential maintenance or equipment purchases needed for your home (again subject to qualifying criteria).
