Supporting Tenants and Residents Associations (STAR)

STAR was a service funded by Hull City Council Housing Department, and managed by Goodwin to provide support to Tenants and Residents Associations (TARAs) across Hull. The project closed when our contract ended on Wednesday 9th November 2011, but we have retained this website as a source of useful information and as a project archive.

About STAR

STAR: Supporting Tenant and Resident Associations, was an independent support service for Tenant, Resident and Community Associations in Hull. It was managed by Goodwin Development Trust and funded by Hull City Council Housing Service. STAR's contract was for three years and came to an end on Wednesday 9th November 2011. Hull City Council Housing Service had made the decision not to continue funding an independent support project, and so STAR closed on that date.

Goodwin Development Trust will continue to maintain this web page as a resource for Associations. An archive of our Newsletters and the minutes of our regular TARA Roundtable meetings are available, along with a list of links to useful websites and resources. These resources include the STAR Guide to Support Services for Tenant, Resident and Community Associations, which includes information about setting up and running a Association in Hull, and the sources of support and funding that are available. We've also included copies of a model Constitution and Code of Conduct which you are welcome to download and adapt to your needs.

Support will continue to be available from Hull City Council Tenant Participation and Area Teams, and from other local, regional and national organisations, but some of the functions that STAR has carried out will not continue. If you have any questions about this, please contact the Tenant Participation Team directly (see link below to the Tenant Participation Team website).
